Geshe Samten

We are very fortunate to have Geshe Samten Gyatso-la as a resident teacher at our centre from the beginning of July to 16 September 2010. Geshe-la was born in Amdo, Eastern Tibet in 1969. He has two brothers and a sister. From age 7 to 9 he attended a village school becoming a monk at Ngarong Tashi Choeling, a local monastery, when he was 14 years old.  At 16 he escaped to India and joined the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics at Dharamsala, where he studied Buddhist philosophy for 10 years. He worked for the Institute for one and a half years before joining Drepung Gomang monastery in 1996 where he studied for his Geshe Lharampa degree. He completed this degree in 2005. He then studied tantra at the Gyumed Tantric University for a year and obtained the Ngarampa degree.
